Young Carers Workers Conference 2008
3-4 March 2008 Ramada Jarvis, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
PM Gordon Brown launches the New Carers Strategy this May which will hopefully include new expectations of councils, schools and others to improve support for young carers. The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is therefore delighted to host a unique two day conference to address the issues facing young carers in the UK today. The conference will feature a range of young carers’ experts who will provide staff working with young carers and families the opportunity for training, networking and up-to-date policy information.
There will be an excellent selection of plenaries, workshops and surgery sessions including:
- Applying for grant funding – focusing on outcomes
- Young carers for people with HIV/aids
- New workers’ induction – schools focus
- Supporting young carers online
- 16-24 transitions research study
- Young carers from refugee families – supporting within education
- Engaging under 11s
- Think family – linking adults and children’s services
- Business planning and service reviews
- Solution-focused therapy
- Youth achievement awards
- Influencing local and national policy makers
