Doing great

As some of you know my son Adam after being in mainstream all his life(13yrs) started a new SEN school 3 weeks ago after a long 3yr fight. I just wanted to share our good news with you all and let you all know how well he is doing. Last week he had to be restrained for the first time ever outside the home. In the past i have had calls sometimes daily to collect him if he was unsettled. I was a pleasant shock to learn that i no longer have to worry and put my life on stand still waiting for yet another call. He has accepted his boundaries and knows that no matter how bad he feels he will not be sent home, he will be restrained and then allowed into the 'quiet room' which is well padded so kids can thrash around without getting hurt, and also has light therapy.
He loves his new school, he is so happy and relaxed so much so that we should be able to start weaning him off his meds(Risperidone) very soon. The future looks quite good from where im standing now, at last i can relax knowing he is well cared for, understood and above all comfortable in his suroundings. Smile emoticon

Oh darlin,
I really can appreciate where youre coming from- our kids are so damn vulnerable and we worry constantly and it must be such a huge relief for you to see you little man finally happy, bless him.

i must admit im lucky where the boys go- its the only sen school on the island and its like a little family.
You should write it all down somewhere exactly how you do feel now and then maybe if things get you down another time, read back over it and remind yourself how joyful you feel right now.

lots of love and hugs to you both Drink emoticon
