Hi,
Don' t really know if I'm posting in the right place, but here we go all the same.
My uncle is currently terminally ill with a varying range of problems. His heart is failing, mainly due to lack of care for his diabetes. He has been given maybe a few more months, but the doctors still are not sure.
My mother is currently caring for him full time, but it is really starting to take it's toll on her. He is lashing out at her, and other relatives. I don't know the full story as I'm currently living in China, but am moving home in two weeks.
I offered to move in for a while, both to help my mum and my uncle. Not sure what to expect, not sure what to do..
Not sure what else to say.. :) Hoping someone can give me some advice.
Ta, Callum

Sat 12 Apr 2008 12:43Hi Callum, The best bit of advise is you better grow a thick skin and pretty soon. If you dont you will find yourself caving in when your mum needs you the most. If your uncle is lashing out and being violent one thing you can do is to learn restraining techniues, it is very important to know how to restrain someone effectivelt without causing them physical harm. Also log his reactions to any care he is given to see if a pattern of aggression emerges. Unfortunately you are going to have to broarden your mind and just play it by ear. Each day will produce different problems and only time and patience will see you through. Good luck
