can i just say never give in when applying for high dla and high mobility for a child even if they can walk for years i was turned down for high rate mobility she got low rate due to her lack of communication skills over the yrs i applied numerous times finally they awarded it to her 2 yrs ago she is only 14 and her condition is just the same as all the times she was turned down really she can walk but has learning dificulties and language difficulties it goes to show really it depends who looks at the application also last time we sent the forms in they awarded her for life but dropped the rate to middle i appealed and it was re ensteted to high rate but till 2011 i find this silly as i have found out that dla goes to adult at age 16 and needs re assesing then but this date takes her to 18 i can only imagine she will just be awarded it for life at 18 ts strange !!!!

Re: high rate mobility
Wed 20 Feb 2008 16:48but remember nat, you have to become her appointee when she reaches 16. They dont tell you that though!! so about a few months before her 16th birthday, get in contact with the dla and tell them that your daughter is going to become 16 soon and that you need to be appointed as her appointee because she cannot handle her own financial affairs (i am assuming that she cannot) They did not tell me i had to be made her appointee so her money was stopped. It was reinstated when they came to my house to interview charlotte and they realised that she still watched noddy videos and had limited language and no concept of danger!
