If the Council wonât consult you,
We will!⢠Islington Council are making major changes to homecare including the privatisation of the current in house home care provision, which specialises in dementia, mental health and severe disabilities.
⢠They are also introducing a new âgate keepingâ service, which could lead to more people who need homecare being turned away.
Public meeting: 7.00pm, Thursday 8th November 2007 Islington Central Library, Fieldway Crescent.
Whether you are in favour or not, we believe that people should be consulted, especially carers, those cared for and their organisations.
The Council have been forced to admit they have not consulted a single organisation or member of the community.
As a result of this arrogance the two unions representing home carers, UNISON and GMB are asking you to join us at the meeting and we will tell you what we know. All Islington residents are welcome donât forget even if you donât need homecare now you might one day, will the service be there? Councillor John Gilbert, Executive member for health and social care, will be invited put his side.
