House work

Dont get me wrong I don't mind doing housework and it also helps keep me occupied but recently I have struggled and got frustrated by all the high bits I cant get to as I'm just under five foot tall!! As Mark gets Direct Payments it was suggested I use some to pay for a cleaner. I looked up agencies and couldn't believe the prices they charge!! One agency is £13.99 an hour and on top of that I have to pay the travel expenses of the cleaner AND provide all the equipment!!
I sent off the "joining up"forms but then a neighbour told me about their cleaner - its run on a charitable basis and is subsidised so only costs £5.25 an hour if you receive Income Support. This is brilliant as they will also do errands/shopping during the time they are with you. I cant go out and leave Mark and I often forget something on my Tesco home delivery. I hope to get signed up to them next week and then I can finally stop looking at dusty lampshades and cobwebs in the corner of the room!!Debbie xx

Re: House work
Mon 21 Jul 2008 10:49I don't know if this operates all over the country - maybe if you have Direct Payments then an ILA adviser or social worker would know the answer. Social services would probably hold this list - good luck and I hope you can find if its available near you.I am in West Sussex near Brighton by the way.
