mental capacit act

i have only just heard of this act and as the mother of a 14yr old girl does anyone agree with me that this may not all be good as in the way of if i dont apply for power of attourney and i wanted her on the pill as a mother i have no rights if she said no even though she has learning dissabilities and complex needs this could be the same in many situations or am i wrong
