As well as the letter to GB I have emailed every MP and MSP with my concerns at the lack of help both financial and practical for carers in Britain. Hope this helps

Take care
Meg

A coincidence ..... my TheyWorkForYou daily alert is picking up more " Carer " references ... that questions are now being asked as individual carers are taking the initiative on mass for the first time.

The Letter speaks in a louder voice than any survey \ meeting ever has done , sparked off by a carer , without fear or favour ..... something needed to be done , and it has been done !

Whatever , it's been far , far , too long in coming.

I contacted a reporter on our local newspaper and she did not even know there was a "Carers Week". I had hoped she would do an article about carers role and the knock on effect of Council cutbacks announced today.

Take care
Meg

I was in my Gp's surgery today with my daughter when I was summoned by my Gp (without an appointment or a fight with the receptionist!) who said could I send him a copy of the carers letter as he wanted to raise the issue with PCT.....good to see things acknowledged at last

Hi Cheryl,
First to say thanks as it was your hard work in drafting the letter that is getting the attention, our gp saw the letter in the local paper.
The PCT is the primary care trust which takes control of local health care. In theory it sounds fantastic, with all health depts working in partnership and all available resources being used to provide the best solutions to patients and carers needs, but as we all know this is not the case but it does seem to be headed in the right direction at least. I'm not sure if PCT are all over the country or just certain areas though?
Have still had no response from caring local MP though?
Will let you know what happens, thanks again

Take care
