As my son wouldnt speak at the assessment this morning, it didnt happen, hes now not speaking to me either, unless he agrees to an assessment there wont be one. I need people to understand that my son is not understanding what is being said to him. I cant do anymore. I am so much in despair now.

aw boots, you have played on my mind for the past couple of weeks now, im so sorry for all that you are going through. Your son probably does not like the attention he knows he will be getting, my son is the same. I had no choice but to do a week long dossier on him, it was ruddy hard work i can tell you logging his activity minute by minute. In the end i had to keep the video camera on constant record so i could log everything down. It was only then that everyone saw just how bad he was. The trouble is its the same old "he doesn't look autistic" "he looks normal enough to me" syndrome Cursing emoticon Cursing emoticon I know its hard work but you HAVE to put a dossier together on him, you HAVE to get as much evidence as possible and above all you HAVE to pull on your reserves and stay strong cause the alternative does not bear thinking about Sad emoticon my heart bleeds for you pet Sad emoticon i wish to god i could help you Sad emoticon Sad emoticon big hugs XXX

hiya boots,
I would do what el suggests and start a diary- written and pictorial and recorded with a video camera-- you would be surprised how much clout that can carry even tho its hard work on top of getting thru the day!

also like el said, i bet he dont like the attention- my eldest who has fragile x and autism wont go first in any situation, even walking thru doors, he goes "after you", which people think is dead polite, and it is iguess, but its not the reason he does it.

at school, if he needs an eye test or whatever, they make it into a game and someone else in the class goes first.
he dont mind going second, third, or even last!

maybe the assessment team could bare this in mind and maybe you could take another child with you whos willing to "go first"??????????

worth a try maybe?
