Another Newbie....

Hi there, another newbie here…… I care for my 94 year old father, who now lives with my husband and I. I am rather embarrassed to call myself a carer amongst you guys……… you all seem to be coping so much better than I, with so much more on your respective plates! But, care I do, so I suppose that makes me a carer!
Thankfully Dad is not suffering from any form of dementia, other than the most awful short term memory issues, so in many ways he/we are very lucky indeed. He has a few physical issues however, largely due to war time injuries and his elderly status. Currently his issues consist of: one dodgy remaining kidney, one very dodgy replacement knee, one very very dodgy replacement hip, exceptionally deaf, false teeth etc., etc., He claims that he is “going over” one bit at a time…… Thankfully his sense of humour is intact!
In spite of all that, life is kinda tough, like I need to tell you guys that though! So, here I am hoping to find some like minded people who want to have a rant, share a special moment from our caring days, have a giggle, gain some info on what is available, (if anything), give some support to fellow carers, and when appropriate, get some for myself! Looking forward to speaking with you all!
