i care for my partner full time, he had an accident at work which left him physically disabled, and now suffers from bi-polar disorder due to the stress. i want information on how to deal with caring for him, and am trying to find a carers group in aylesbury, where i can talk to other carers and get tips on how to cope with it all. we have a cpn, but unfortunately, she doesnt seem to be much help. when i asked her how i can deal with not getting much sleep, due to my partner being on strong medication that makes him sleep heavily, and snore, which keeps me awake at night, her advice was to buy ear plugs....... as we have a 7 montth old baby, this wasnt really very helpful. so i figured that talking to other people like me, might be a better option. any ideas where i can find help and advice will be most welcome. thank you. .x. Oxford Road Aylesbury Buckinghamshire HP19 8HT. Tel: 01296 392711.

I hope they help!

cozican have you had your husband checked out at a sleep clinic. I know you said his heavy sleeping and snoring is due to his medication but if he is a heavy snorer and if you noticed that he gasps for breath as he snores it could be he also has sleep apnoea which is where you stop breathing while you sleep.

Sleep Apnoea if left untreated can cause huge physical problems such as heart problems also server depression which maybe the cause of his bi-polar. Most likely not be but worth getting it checked out

Hi Cozican

There is a site for The MDF Bipolar Organisation

website: www.mdf.org.uk

They are a charity and self help organisation who have information services and there is also a discussion forum.

Don't know if this will be of any use to you.

Take care.
