Hello Nat

This grant is only available in certain areas so you will need to contact your local carers centre to see if your area has this grant available.

The criteria varies from region to region so best to check up with your local carers centre what their criteria is if they do have this funding available for carers.

I hope that they do have this funding available in your area and good luck with your application

If this is given by the PRTC then surely a phone call to their nearest office can help. After all people gave a lot of money of xmas etc to help carers when they needed it, it shouldnt be restricted to certain areas. Mind you I am sure they will soon be able to send you one of their newly trained counsillors which some of the donations paid for apparently. Sure they will be a big help.....not, what a waste of money when we all need so much more. Hope you find what you need Nat--good luck

Mo maybe you don't need counselling however there are many carers out there who do need this much needed service in coming to terms with acceptance of their situations and able to move forward with their lives on a positive note!

I find it very sad when a carer shows such bitterness towards a service which is needed out there for carers who need counselling. If counselling service was not needed there would not be the huge waiting lists for carers waiting to see a counsellor.

Natalie if you are unable to get funding from your carers centre please let me know as there are other funders out there who do fund towards holidays and short breaks.

Mo, all I can say is that counselling helped me through a particularly rough patch caring for my father - I couldn't have managed to cope as well as I have without it. With all respect to a fellow Carer, if you haven't tried it, please don't knock it.
