bloody doctors!

I am so fed up with our GP. I am sure im not alone.
grrrr.
my eldest boy age nearly 11, i think he has IBS. he does have low muscle tone and has never done a solid poo in his life (sorry to be crude but its the way it is) anyway, the other night thursday, he screamed out mamamama, and when i ran up there, he had done something that wasnt quite human in his PJs bless him and was ina right state as he isgetting to that embarrassed age.
anyways, took me so long to clean him cos he wouldnt move off the cabin bed and he too heavy to lift blah blah. finally about an hour later, he on my lap calming down, wanted papa to come from pool at the pub, and i said im taking him to docs, this is not right, he had disruption at school and i think he got ibs and the disruption caused it.
so.....
next day my dox you dont make appt, he there for only 2 hrs friday, it took us an hour to get him there cos he was fighting 'i not go doctors' screaming etc. its only 1 minute walk!
he wouldnt go in waiting room cos he too scared of all the strangers and he was getting more stressed in the que, anyway, got to reception eventually and i asked if he could go straight in, explained it all, the receptionist bless her was ace, she went and asked doctor and explained to him (now, he knows us we been under him for nealry 4 yrs) and he says no way, bring him back at 5.30pm even tho we explained no way would we get him back there if we had to come back.
he wouldnt have it.
in the end i waited for patient to come out and i marched right in there. i wasnt fuffing moving til he saw him. and he did see him under protest. one bloody minute we were there, he says take a poo sample to the hosp. I says no i want him referred straight away cos i know wot the prob is, he sez no do the poo sample.
and next time bring him at 5.30 !!!
at 5.30 i woulda had to also take sid (also same disability) and if i was on my own no way would i be able to do it. it is hard enough with me and the bloke dragging george down the road kicking and screaming (him not us lol)
as it was sid was at respite til 5pm so 4pm was ideal for us.
he is such a arrogant pig and dont care one bit about our situation.
he never asks or takes any interest and treats us like lepers.
it really upset me and i want to cry while im writing this cos its hard enough without an arrogant big headed twat like him he dont know his arse from his elbow about disability treating us like dirt when i got more brains up me bum then he got in his head.
they think just cos they got medical qualification they are better then us, and in fact theyre not- they just 'medicalised' medicine in the early 19th century and made themselves more important.
(i know loads of stuff about how they got their own importance sorted cos i do it all at uni lol)
anyway i come home and rang another surgery and explained a wanna move to them, she sez who you with now, so i told her, she sez 'aha say no more darlin, i know him well but im not allowed to comment cos of ethics'! sez it all really eh!well thanks for listening. I dont normally let things get to me but this did for some reason.
thing is i was gonna ask him for a mild sleeping pill cos i dont sleep even when the boys do, but i didnt dare after that!moan over

Re: bloody doctors!
Sat 23 Feb 2008 20:41oh kerry babe, you are not your usual upbeat self. Dont let bloody doctors get too you. I am fortunate as in mine are fantastic where charlotte is concerned but yes i have come across some arseholes in my time. The doctor that diagnosed charly said, "go home and read a book about it"......charming. I also had to fight for her injections that she has. I asked if my local docs would do it instead of me taking a half an hour drive to the childrens hospital for a 5 minute appointment. Ever since i played my face and got the injections at my local docs , they have been alright with me. But it shouldnt have to be like that, fighting for things. Change your doctors girl!! cos the one that you have sounds like a complete twatt!! now go and open a bottle of wine and drink it.......lol (only drink it if the boys are in respite, otherwise you wont be any use to them with a fat head......lol)

Re: bloody doctors!
Sat 23 Feb 2008 20:51aw thanks Lisa, you are a gem!
Yes i am changing doctors.
its funny ive always put up with him but now as far as im concerned if he wanna treat me like s**t that bad enough but he aint doing it to my boys!
just one problem, the other doctors 5 miles away, which is a car ride of course, but im told they are really lovely.
I dont want to tar them all with the same brush but i do seem to get the rough end of the stick with doctors.
we found out our child had a lifetime of disability via a short (5 line) letter from the consultant (male) at the local hosp.
out of the blue totally (id been told prior to this letter twice that all his blood tests were clear!)
it was a saturday morning 25th july 8 and half yrs ago. what can you do on a saturday morning....
dear mr and mrs ...,
we believe your son has a condition called fragile x and we are referring you to guys hospital. you will hear from them shortly but any questions please contact us for an appointment,
Love from the doctor" (not literally but along them lines)
we had never heard of it, we didnt know owt about it or even if he was gonna live or die from it, we had no computer to look it up, no one to ring.
anyway i rang the NAS and they gave me number of fragile x society and thank God for them, i believe they save my life that day!
Ps i dont drink (only rarely anyway) and gave up fags a few weeks back but theres alwasy the chox i got for valentimes day lol.....

Re: bloody doctors!
Sat 23 Feb 2008 23:12my gps are very good except for one arsehole who's left the practice now, as far as i'm concerned the dr cost my husband his life, but i can't prove it, i rang for a home visit my hubby had not passed urine all day,he had a bad stroke and getting to surgery was impossible, the dr made out i was to idle to get him there, my husband had gone into complete renal failure. time was of the essence i took him to hospital it's only a few 100yds from where i live myself where he died a few days later.
so don't you take no shit from them gal

Re: bloody doctors!
Mon 25 Feb 2008 18:55Hello everybody. New to this site but not new to carers. Read the letter re doctors and it sounds familiar! I have been taking care of my husband for quite a few years and lo and behold, but I took ill myself. GP kept telling me I had IBS and fybromyalgia. Started me on oxycontin and anti depressants. Had to go back at the end of last year and he sent me to vascular surgeon who diagnosed intermittent clauducation. (advanced in both legs and not suitable to operate. No sympathy from GP. In fact no help at all. I asked him for help to cope with the pain and he said -quote"We all have to face the end and my life wAS SHORTENED". I felt disgusted as he backed off as I mentioned his possible misdiagnosis for the last 5 years. I left in disgust!

Re: bloody doctors!
Tue 26 Feb 2008 20:52some of these comments really make my blood boil. we are doing all this in uni- about inequalities within the health system and also between doctor/patient relationships.
we cannot get on to that new doctor, apparently we dont live close enough!
back to the drawing board....
have got application forms for another one but the receptionist sounded like a right bitch and also it seems u see a diff doc each time so not much chance of building any sort of rapport.
