Re: social worker
Thu 14 Feb 2008 17:26Isnt this typical Loopy they have no idea. They should actually make them spend time with people like us, mind you heaven forbid we may want paying. There is nothing to equal experience is there? Most of them go into employment with no clue of what we do have to do, and hence they dont know how to deal with us or do their job properly. We dont send nurses out to do a job without training do we ?

Re: social worker
Thu 14 Feb 2008 19:13I must be one of the lucky ones the social worker which my son had for many years went off on maternity leave so I got a new social worker. I can't sing her praises enough if there is ever a problem and she does not know the answer straight away after all service land things are for ever changing she will be back to me as soon as she is back into the office.
I also prefer student social workers as they are so keen to get everything that is possible out there to get so I am always requesting to be first in the que for a student social worker.

Re: social worker
Fri 15 Feb 2008 19:10It's taken the local authorities THREE MONTHS to assign me a Social Worker (during which time I've had Hip Replacement Surgery postponed FIVE TIMES!)
I rang today and kicked off, demanding to know what was happening .... it took twenty minutes for someone to get 'permission' [???] from their superior to inform me of the SW's name ........ and then - yes, you've guessed it! - said person is currently "on leave" .....

Re: social worker
Sun 17 Feb 2008 17:48Just having my first experience of a social worker. Hosp has advised that we get some help in as Dad needs extra help to get to bed at night (I'm full-time carer) as his legs aren't so good as they were (due mainly to sitting around cause they don't have physio at the hosp he was originally admitted to).
He has been having what they call "re-enablement" at a community hosp which so far can't fault as he is walking lot further than when he was originally admitted.
My father and I need one hours help at night 8-9pm, social worker is trying to get us to put in for 30mins - her reasoning is that we are more likely to get the time we want! Plus she booked the wrong agency - I will at least give her credit for phoning me and telling me what she had done.
Have sent her an e-mail today as wanted to put it in writing before I go there tomorrow that we want an hour, not a minute less.

Re: social worker
Sun 24 Feb 2008 12:29You have a social worker ? In Bradfor d district you only get them if you are an out of work druggie who abuses your child. Noraml disabled familes are a the bottom of their priorities
