Funding any advice

I will put this information on here just in case anyone else has a daughter or son who is interested in acting. After my daughter managed to complete a level 2 at a normal colege she could not go to the next level as it was too hard. She stil wanted to pursue this career. So I started writing to the arts councils all around the country. I finally came across Mencap who do a course in acting. So didn't careers advisors tell me this in the first place. Holly is now going to Bradford for a week then if she gets chosen she will go up for 10 months coming home every two weeks. Problem is now they will cover her travelling costs but not mine and I have to go up there every two weeks to collect her and bring her home again. I can either not let her go which would not seem fair or travel up with her and give her this chance. Does anyone know if there is any help I can get with funding as what will happen is her disability allowance will probably stop if she is not home and so will my carers allowance. Yet I still will not be able to work because every two weeks I have to collect her.Even the train discount covers me for going there but not coming back as I will be travelling back alone. This does not seem right. Any suggestions anyone.

Tue 29 Jan 2008 21:41your daughters dla wont stop + im not 100per cent sure but think you will still get ica as you are still caring 4 her. im sure you should be able 2 claim travel costs, ask at the benefits advice centre you could be entitled 2 claim . if she does get accepted [fingers crossed] you could maybe arrange 4 someone 2 meet her off the train? when shes there you may meet someone in the same area that can take turns with you? i wish your daughter all the best, you must be very proud, well done .love barbaraxxx
