Tolkien fans will recognise the [deliberate!] mis-quote!!
I read in today's news that our dear PM ( "pay Master") is advising his party cronies .... sorry, political colleagues/camp followers to "show restraint" by ONLY voting themselves a 2% pay increase ..... wonder what 2% of an MP salary IS????
Mr. Google tells me that an MP gets about £60650 p.a. and up to almost £3000 "expenses" if representing a London constituency..........So, 2% of almost £64,000 â "1280 or c. £107/month
Until this week, I've been living on c. £75/week Incapacity Benefit.
I've just been told that they have in fact been OVERPAYING me, and in future I will be getting c. £36/week until the overpayment has been cleared ..............One rule for them, another for everyone else, apparently .....

Sun 6 Jan 2008 21:14I could not agree more. They are way over paid as it is,have u ever watched the parliamentry channel on tv? Its like a kids playground.Jeremy Clarkson put it very well when he said "what do we need them for when we have the bank of Enland controlling interest rates, america telling us who to fightand the EU controlling the rest of it!What are we paying out about £41600000 for them to sit there and play around?Think where all that could go.Think how much your carers allowance or incapacity could be then.Oh well we can only dream
