hi im new to this site. this is my first post. I have three sons aged 2, 5 and 6 my eldest two son have autism and my youngest who is 2. Has just been diagnosed with asd - aspergers. So I know how you are feeling. All I can say is you will know yourself as a mother. of his diagnosis. Ive know since he was a newborn baby. That he had autism. But it was getting everyone else to see. Now i look back i can see all my sons were different at that age too. Im sorry if that is not helpful. but that is how i feel. I hope to talk to a few people on the site soon. but rarely get near the computer. if it is.it is normally to make pec cards or social stories. I get through a lot of them. Most of the time my sons are on it.it was nice to speak to you

hi i am also knew to this site and am still learning about computer talk but i would like to know more details about autism. as i have always suspected my daughter as this - she suffers with short term memory, clothes that are never comfortable, socks included. germs - she would never eat or drink from anyones plate or cup. she has very little social skills the ones she has me and my 16 year old have taught her. to watch a half hour programme would take 2 hours as i would have to explain what was bein said etc. she would never stay with anyone she is always by my side and has been for the full 14 years of her life. . . . :

Hello trouble maker

Have you looked at the National Ausitic Society web site they have excellent information about the signs for autism. Also for any parent/carer who has a newly diagnosed (within the last 18 months of diagnoses) child in their care the NAS hold excellent training with their HELP! programes best of all they are free to parent/carers.

Hello Trouble maker

sorry can't say if it is or not as such a lot of other conditions mimick autism. Saying that a lot of what you have said does cover autistic traits.

I am unable to say who to contact as I am unaware of the processes of diagnoses as it differs from area to area. Annoying as I have been through the MAP which is the Multi Agency Pathways for Autism where everyone involved in the child's life writes a report on their views then it goes to pannel and they assess the reports to decide if a child has autism or not.

Just read what I said about the MAP process and forgot to mention that it is my preferred method of diangoses. Reason being is that everyone involved in the person's life who is being assessed is involved so not just leaving the diagnoses to one person as one person. Do I need to say more on that matter!

Devil emoticon

And where is roxy she has not been back on here for a while and not been into the chat room yet if you are reading this roxy make a date in the chat room one evening and come and see carers from all over the country in there!

If not am coming around for a cuppa lol
