Donna you are correct, you are not a carer,. And those of us who are carers would be eternally grateful if you pass that message back to your colleagues, employers, press etc whenever you get the chance. Smile emoticon

If you have anything to contribute, within the rules of this site, IMHO you're welcome to do so.

If you'd like to talk to other careworkers, may I suggest setting up a messageboard or mailing list? There seems to be enough paid careworkers, health care assistants, nursing aides and personal assistants out there who could do with somewhere to let off steam or swap tips about their work.

Donnahsj, can you calm down and act a little less ungrateful please?

I answered your question; I sugested where youu could look and what you could do; I did not personally abuse you; I did not say you were unwelcome here, and you call me harsh?

Are Health Care Assistans usually so thinskinned?

Try being on call 24/7 for 10 years and then call me harsh. You chose to do your job, I did not choose to be a carer - nobody ever considered whether I wanted to do this, or even whether I'd be any good at it and you call me harsh? = Angry emoticon

Maybe you're too delicate to speak to real carers then.

These forums are for the true professionals ..... not intended for paid mercanaries , nor any do gooders from the support circus ( those who are only too willing to tell carers what we want rather than experience life as a carer first hand ).

Donna -I can only think that they were having one of those off days that all carers have to one degree or another - anyone who cares for other people is welcome as far as I'm concerned. Don't feel put off at all, nobody knows everthing there is to know about caring and any new ideas/info would be most welcome Roll eyes emoticon

Welcome Yes emoticon

I have reread my reply, and I do not believe that I was curt or harsh. I was not having an off day. I do believe that Donna took it the wrong way - perhaps she was having an off day?

I replied in my normal tone, as you would see from any of my other posts to this board.

Grebo,I did not ask to be a carer either, I do it out of love, I do not feel bitter about it, yes i wish my life was different, but I love the person i care for and it will be a very sad day when i lose him, Ask me if i want the life i have, or a life alone. If i die before he does I will be glad that there are people like Donna who are willing to care for him.
You sound like someone who is very angry at his lot. Yes carers should have more money and support maybe one day it will happen. Then again there are millions of people starving to death in the world....there is always someone worse off.
