Hello to you all
(new here)
My husband and I are carers for our 12 year old child who has epilepsy and many more problems
in the past we had a social worker who used to work wonders but left many years ago
if we needed something for our child she would get i.e ( bed , bedding ,clothes, ect,)
we have a stand in social worker now
so we asked her for help to buy a new sofa as we have had it for many years and is in a bad state due to our childs condition
we had our sofa of ( children in need) over 7 years ago
so when we asked her if it would be possible to apply to a charity she said social workers don`t do that and yet there are many many charites out there which many have online crant forms to fill in
( but a social worker must fill it in and sign it ? )
my question is if they can`t help who can!
We have always thought that’s the social worker`s duties are to help those family’s in need
i sometimes wonder where have all these millons of pounds raised by good causes have gone ?
Bye bev

hi bev&conner
Welcome to the site. Angry emoticon Angry emoticon
i care for my thirteen year old son who's on the autistic spectrum, i've never had a social worker but used to have a special needs health visitor who used to help with grants and benefits. the problem i face is now my son has gone into mainstream school with support theyve taken away the only support i had its very frustrating isnt it.
where told or lead to believe there is support there and yet when we look for it cant get it. Angry emoticon

I understand your problem with social workers. I don't think you can always take the word of one specific social worker, and if he/she doesn't seem to be being as helpful as they should, contact his/her dept.
