Young Carers Service
The Young Carers Service supports children and young people, aged between 8 and 18, who take on a significant and substantial caring role within their family. The person being cared for may have a physical disability or chronic illness, learning difficulty, sensory impairment, problems with their mental health, or substance misuse.
Young carers’ workers listen to the concerns of young people and can offer practical help on many subjects, including school. They can offer one-to-one sessions with a support worker, fun developmental activities, the chance to meet with other young carers and identification and support in school if required.
Youth Yap, the newsletter of the Young Carers Service provides information on young carers’ events as well as articles on young people and their issues in general.
