Jane Hewitt

Carer and Bereavement Support Worker

Offers a wide range of support and advice to carers, as well as assisting in recently setting up and running a local bereavement service. Jane has worked at the centre since April 2000 and spends a lot of time ensuring carer records and follow-ups are maintained. She draws from past experience as a RGN and carer. For four years she helped care for her father, with mother and siblings, after a stroke left him severly disabled.

Lynn Hull

Young Carers Development Worker

Lynn was employed as the Young Carers Develpment Worker in October 2004. She qualified as a Graphic Designer and gained experience in Sales in a Publishing House. On her return to Oban,Lynn was employed by Quarriers working with children between the ages of 15 and 25 years old. Her responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of the Young Carers support project and includes advocacy with appropriate agencies, one-to-one work and running the weekly group. The groups enable the young people to relax, integrate with others in similar situations, build friendships, learn social skills and have fun. Lynn undertakes presentations to raise awareness and fundraises to ensure the existence of the service.

Elspeth MacDonald

Young Carers Support Worker

Elspeth joined the Young Carers sessional workers in March 2007. She has an eclectic background, having experience in counselling and building work. Elspeth says that she loves children because they are generally more fun than adults.

Susanne McCardell

Carer Support Worker

Susanne McCardel is a carers’ support worker. She is the contact person for the Parkinson’s support group that meets last Thursday of every month. She has a dedicated amount of hours to support dementia sufferers and their carers. Susanne is happy to spend her time with carers meeting them in the centre, on the phone and doing home visits. She is an enthusiastic Tai Chi and art therapy practitioner, and brings all these skills to the carers centre.

Ruth Moody

Centre Manager

Centre manager since 1999 supporting carers and centre staff. Ruth is as enthusiastic as ever she is delighted with the development of the service and dedicated to its continued success. As a qualified counsellor Ruth provides bereavement counselling in the centre a role that she finds very rewarding. A lot of Ruths time is spent fundraising so if anyone has any inovative ideas please let her know.
