Outreach Project
The Outreach Project was established in July 2001 as a means of identifying carers in the east of the county and providing information, advice and support to carers who find it difficult to access CoEL's carers Centre in Musselburgh.
The project uses health centres as the key route to contacting hidden carers, as carers often strive to cope alone and their GP may be their only contact for support and help. This means health centres are a proven place for contacting hidden carers.
The project uses CoEL's well established "One-Stop" approach to provide high Quality information, advice and support to all carers reached, both through accessing CoEL's own services and through referral to other relevant services.
The Outreach Project is funded by the Carers Strategy, East Lothian Healthcare Co-operative and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.
