Carer Support Project
To provide support and advice to all carers in the borough from the age of 4 years upwards. Our aims are to provide:
Emotional and practical support.
Advocacy, advice and information are available to all carers, together with referrals to other appropriate agencies.
Therapeutic massage is available from our qualified aromatherapist, whilst our qualified counsellors offer counselling sessions.
Trained professionals also offer benefits and pensions advice.
Organised activities and events, such as day trips are also regularly held.
As well as offering these services to all carers, we provide regular group activities, support around difficulties at school, and training, such as anger management and confidence building to younger carers under the age of 18. Wherever possible, we involve parents and families in the support of younger carers.
Alongside the direct support for carers, Carer Support Workers also attend professional meetings to raise the awareness of carers' issues, work with other professionals to improve services for carers and network with other carers' organisations to share good practice.
