Young Carers Project
A young carer can be defined as a child or a young person (under age 18) who is carrying out significant caring tasks and assuming a level of responsibility for another person, which would usually be taken by an adult.
Young Carers generally care for members of their immediate family who may have a physical illness, disability, mental health problem or dependency on alcohol or drugs.
The Young Carers Project has been set up so that we can start providing activities, support sessions and clubs that may help the young carers', also providing support networks for the families of young carers'.
The activities may help a family to get any additional support to help improve the overall family situation, allowing children to be children and parents to be parents.
The Young Carers worker also targets schools and youth groups, raising awareness of young carers and their needs and encouraging young carers to come forward and receive the support to which they, and their family are entitled to.
