Mental Health Project
Runs educational courses for carers which give a considerable amount of information on all aspects of mental health care and useful strategies to use at home so that communication and understanding within families is enhanced. This year providing holidays or other forms of respite for carers has also been possible with the help of the Carers Fund. The Mental Health Worker also assits with benefit issues, referring to counselling or complementary therapies and running a support group which aims to be a mixture of relaxing /educational meetings.
Another major part of this project is the advocacy work - enabling carers to speak for themselves and supporting them if they're not quite ready to do that.
