The Princess Royal Trust for Carers Scottish Awards 2006
The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is calling for nominations for a Carers Awards ceremony to be held in the beautiful surroundings of the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow on 13 November 2006.
The Awards are a new initiative for The Trust in Scotland and have been designed to both acknowledge the huge contribution carers make to our society and thank those who have fully embraced the importance of the carer agenda in employment, services, policy and practice.
The Carers Awards will be presented by HRH The Princess Royal, President of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, at an awards ceremony attended by carers and those who support them in the world of politics and business.
The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is looking for nominations of individual carers to recognise the unpaid work that they do and the contribution that they make to Scottish society.
80% of care in this country is provided by carers – only 20% is provided by health and social services. One person in every eight in Scotland is a carer and carers save the Scottish Executive £5.7 billion every year.
John Amabile, who is a long standing supporter of the Trust and a member of its Scottish Campaign Board, will host the evening. His inimitable sense of style, humour and sensitivity will ensure that the Awards ceremony is both entertaining and informative.
Elaine McGonigle, Director of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers says: ‘This exciting event is planned in recognition of the huge contribution carers and care partners make across the country to our society. Without them, the social and health care systems of this country would collapse. In our 15th year, we at The Trust want to celebrate this and, at the same time, create a greater awareness of caring at all levels. We are very excited about the event and look forward to a successful and heart-warming evening in which carers will have centre stage.
We would like to ask you to support us with this event – and there are a number of ways you can do so:
- Book a table and join us for a wonderful night
- Sponsor an award, see your company name on the award and have the opportunity to present the award on the night (The final date to take up this opportunity is Monday 9th October)
- Fund a prize for one of our deserving carers – a break for a young carer and family is a wonderful way to recognise the contribution made every day by carers all across the country
Get in touch today to see how you can help and be a part of something that really matters!
Our vision for the evening and for the future is to ensure that carers are recognised for their contribution and commitment to caring. In choosing our ‘winners’ we will be selecting those who exemplify just what an important role carers play in our society.
Our selection of winners for other categories will be based on strict criteria concerned with their commitment to improving the lives of carers in employment, policy and services – people and organisations who really ‘lead the way’ in how they embrace and value carers in Scotland.
Please join us in recognising and celebrating carers - show you care!
