Carers Trust Scotland

Carers Trust Scotland (formerly The Princess Royal Trust for Carers) has been operating in Scotland since 1991. We are the largest provider of comprehensive carers support services in Scotland, reaching around 40,000 adult carers and more than 3,500 young carers from all groups and communities, through a unique network of independent carers centres and young carers services (Network Partners) throughout Scotland.

We work with these Network Partners to improve support, services and recognition for carers in communities across Scotland.

About carers in Scotland

There are at least 657,000 carers in Scotland and there are thousands more hidden carers who are not being supported by services. There are also an estimated 100,000 young carers in Scotland.

The value of care provided by carers in Scotland is £10,347,400,000 a year. Three out of five of us will become carers at some stage in our lives and 1 in 10 of us is already fulfilling some sort of caring role.

As well as providing support to carers through our own services, we also work with many condition-specific charities and support groups across Scotland. Our work with them helps us gain an understanding of the vastly different challenges carers can face as well as developing our knowledge of the many long term conditions, health issues and rare diseases which exist. It also allows us to share with them our own expertise in supporting carers.
