The Princess Royal Trust for Carers Appoints new Head of Communications

Sonya Roberts has been appointed to the role of Head of Communications for the UK’s leading provider of carers’ support services; The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. The term of appointment started on 5 January 2010.

Sonya will have overall responsibility for developing and implementing the communications strategy and providing leadership to the Communications Team. This year she will be overseeing the execution of a series of hard-hitting national awareness-raising campaigns such as the launch of the Young Carers in Education campaign in March and the Do I Care? campaign in the autumn. Sonya will also be working closely with the web team to relaunch The Trust’s main website this summer, revaluating The Trust’s brand strategy and producing a series of new publicity materials throughout the year.

Sonya has enjoyed a lengthy, exciting and successful career within the voluntary sector. Her most recent role was Senior Media and Communications Consultant at the Parkinson’s Disease Society where Sonya worked on the highly successful Brain Donor campaign which won the PR Week Award 2009 for the Best Not-for-Profit Campaign and the Best Communications Campaign at the 2009 ThirdSector Excellence Awards. Sonya was also formally Head of Communications and Marketing at Volunteering England.
