Response to heating bill scheme in Scotland to help carers

Florence Burke, Director for Scotland for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, said: "We're delighted that the Scottish Government has expanded the energy assistance package for carers receiving Carers Allowance. Caring for people in the home often means energy bills are much higher than normal and the choice to care can lead to financial and fuel poverty. This is a positive development which highlights that the Scottish Government recognises the additional costs of caring and its ongoing commitment to help improve the lives of Scotland's unpaid carers."
