HRH The Princess Royal to meet carers in Redbridge

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will visit Redbridge Carers Support Service (RCSS) on Thursday 24 November at 2pm. The Princess will be unveiling a plaque to commemorate her visit.

As President of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, to which Redbridge Carers Support Service has been affiliated since 2003, HRH will have the opportunity to meet local carers in Redbridge. The carers are receiving support from the centre through their various services which include information, advice and advocacy, befriending and practical support such as gardening, home visits, emotional support, free counselling, free complementary therapies and peer support groups. She will hear how the charity has recruited and trained a diverse pool of talented and committed volunteers, now numbering over 70, 50% of whom speak one or more of Redbridge’s community languages.

The centre is proud to be supporting some of the most vulnerable and marginalised carers in the borough, including older, frail, housebound carers, young adult carers and carers from newly arrived, migrant and refugee communities.
During the visit, HRH The Princess Royal will be greeted by Colonel Paul W Acda, Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Redbridge, The Worshipful the Mayor of Redbridge Cllr. Christopher Cummins and Mayoress Helen Johnson, Lee Scott MP and Mike Gapes MP.

Glynis Donovan, Chief Executive of Redbridge Carers Support Service, says: ‘It is an honour and privilege to receive such an honourable guest and the staff, carers, volunteers and trustees are very excited about meeting Her Royal Highness. We hope that the visit will raise awareness about the vital role carers perform and the crucial support carers receive from Redbridge Carers Support Service, including the wonderful support provided by RCSS’ volunteers.’
