Deputy Lord Lieutenant appointment for charity worker

Carole Cochrane, Ambassador for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, has been commissioned as a Deputy Lord Lieutenant for the Lancashire area.

Lord Lieutenants are Her Majesty The Queen’s representatives in an area or county with the support of Deputy Lord Lieutenants. Their functions include: arranging visits by members of the Royal family and escorting Royal visitors; presenting medals and awards on behalf of Her Majesty; and taking part in civic, voluntary and social activities with the Lieutenancy.

As the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Carole will be supporting Lancashire’s Lord Lieutenant Lord Shuttleworth KCVO.

Carole has worked as an Ambassador for The Trust since 2011. Her role is to promote the work of The Trust at a national level and liaise with the offices of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, president of The Trust. Prior to her Ambassadorial appointment, Carole was Chief Executive of The Trust for three years.

Carole said: “I am personally thrilled that the work we have done in the North West has been recognised and hope that this will give me another platform from which to drive forward our cause of supporting carers.”

Liz Fenton, current Chief Executive of The Trust, added: “We’re delighted that Carole’s hard work on behalf of The Trust over the years has been recognised in this way. Carole has many years of experience of liaising with the Royal Household through the numerous visits that our President Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal pays to Carers’ Centres up and down the country and this will stand her in good stead in this role.”
