Hi Kath and welcome. Very hard is the answer I am afraid for both the person suffering and the carer. My nan had this and we were so saddened to see the person she once was gradually dissapear. She was a feisty woman,, intelligent,hardworking,gentle......well I could go on. This was replaced over time by a very frightened,dependent baby. She also became quite violent often trying to bite us but that was because she did not know us anymore and was terrified most of the time.

My heart goes out to all those with or caring for someone with this condition. My nan lived until aged 94 and suffered from dementia while in her late 80's so was luckier than some who get it in their 40;s It was heartbreaking to see. Sorry I could not be positive for you. It has left a very deep mark on me.
