Dance for the Disabled

Just wondered if anyone is aware of any dance classes that have experience of including children with Learning Disabilities?

My daughter is almost 6 yrs old, has Down's Syndrome & just loves to dance! I would really like her to attend some proper classes, but of the kind that don't expect her to train competitively & that are familiar with including children like my daughter.

Any advice gratefully received. Yes emoticon

which area do you live in Heidi?

It may be worth contacting MENCAP to see if there is anything available in your area.

We're just outside Macclesfield, Cheshire.

I've had a look at the Mencap website & followed a few links, but whilst there seems to be a few Sports clubs for kids with disabilities I can't find anything for dance...might give them a call tomorrow, thanks Tricia.

You could try contacting the Snug drama group which are based in Durham. They have contacts all over the place.

Some of the members have just recently formed their own music group which has both those without disabilities and those with a disability in it.

If you contact the mixit I know they will try their best to help you
