During the next few weeks we'll be running a series of online events for carers on our website, with guest experts from the This Morning team.
The first of these is with John Scott, This Morning's style guru.
John Scott is available to answer your questions on everything to do with style and fashion - for example, dressing for you body shape, trends for the season and how to achieve them on a budget, or how to get hold of particular clothes for yourself or the person you care for.
John has styled the stars for many years on blockbuster movies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and the James Bond films. He is also famed for his regular slot 'Beat the Stylist' on This Morning.
Please either post your questions here now - or email them to us at web@carers.org .
John will be replying on Tuesday 20 November, here on the discussion boards.

Re: Q&A with celebrity stylist!
Sun 18 Nov 2007 15:41Hello Michele
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the above subject, and thanks to John Scott for his willingness to give answers.
I would refer to the post on "Hints and Tips" dated 31 August 07 - Generous fit School Clothes, then broaden this to include any age group with the need for "non standard" clothing.
Any hints or tips on availability?
Thanks - Mag

Re: Q&A with celebrity stylist!
Sun 18 Nov 2007 18:18The next question has been sent in by Sarah:
Hello John
I am a disabled carer who over the past two years has lost a total of approx 8 stone and gone from a size 28 to a size 18 bottom but a 14-16 top. I am still trying to lose weight but have no clue as to what sort of clothes suit me, what colours to chose and lenghts etc as i am only 5" 2. I am unable to wear shoes with much of a heel as i have arthritis of the spine, hip and knee and wearing heels causes discomfort and i find i tend to trip more often.
Thank you very much for your help
Sarah

John,
Have you any idea where I can get clothes for my Daughter ? She is 40 years old and has Downs Syndrome, she is only 4ft 4 and a half inches tall and because of ill health she is rather overweight, It is an absolute nightmare to buy clothes for her that are fashionable and comfortable, every thing I buy either has to be let out or taken up.
I would be really grateful if you could advise me.
Many thanks.
ps
She regularly watches you on This Morning

Hi there John,
My daughter who is 14 would love the opportunity to do some child modelling. I approached a few child modelling agencies and sent her photo. The responses came back with all the usual, Congratulations etc... etc...and relevant forms were emailed over to me. As soon as i mention she has Cystic Fibrosis they didn't want to know. She looks fine and healthy and it's really frustrating for me and upsetting for her that it's non-negotiable with them. I understand there a business and they need commitment, but she would try her best.
There's always ways round things isn't there? it's just really harsh. People with CF have a lot of hurdles in everyday life to cope with, even things like they can't get life insurance so no mortgage offers etc.. If you know of any organisations that specialise in this sort of thing it would be great. I've attached a photo of my daughter. Anyway, thanks for listening to me moan for the last few minutes, i feel great for getting that off my chest!

Re: Q&A with celebrity stylist!
Sun 18 Nov 2007 18:42Marion sent in a question:
I am mum and carer of my 13 year old son.
I have put on a fair bit of weight. I am 5ft 9ins tall and weigh approx. 14 stone and a few lbs? My main concern is my big tummy.I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago, so I have the infamous 'skirt'!!
My question is that I don't really know what shape I am, and so don't know quite what to wear. I am 48 years old and it is difficult to know what to wear at my age, as clothes always seem to be too old or too young for me. I am a size 18/20.
I would like to wear something that suits my shape/height/weight/age etc. but limited in choice becasue of my size and budget is also a concern. I buy the best I can afford but have little time or interest in shopping these days.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

any advice for a very overweight, 40+ carer/mum, who wants to look stylish but also has to crawl about in a van strapping a wheelchair in (so short skirts definitely out!! and trousers preferable!)

Tue 20 Nov 2007 16:40For Sarah:
thats amazing!!! I am on weight watchers and have lost 18 pounds and it suddenly stopped....mind you i am sure all the points at Starbucks dont help me....without knowing your colouring i cant say what will suit you but being petite the most important thing is keeping it all in proportion...so you MUST buy petite ranges...or at least regular ranges that are not made for tall leggy girls.....your best bet is to pop along to Wallis as they have a fabulous petite range that goes up to a size 22 and also for that special occasion you could try Principles Petite.......
oh and as for shoes you dont need to wear a heel to be stylish...pop along to New Look and they do fabulous low heeled shoes and also do wide fit too x

Re: Q&A with celebrity stylist!
Tue 20 Nov 2007 16:46For Av:
Hello
I was wondering why you wanted a bra made to measure???? sometimes you dont need to go to the expense of that...sometimes its just important to get the RIGHT size so its important to have someone who knows what they are doing and have a decent fitting...90% of women are wearing the wrong size bra right now....so maybe try going for a fitting first....if you are ever in London you should pop into a Rigby and Pellera and get a fitting...its posh but there is no pressure to buy...but the ladies in there can tell just by looking at you what size you are....also they sell regular ranges in there too so not everything is outrageously priced......but i have found a few lingerie shops in your area...now i cannot say how brilliant they are but you could try giving them a callCasa Bello in Carr Lane 01482 221191
