Are you a carer of someone with a learning disability?

Are you a carer of someone with a learning disability?
Do you use online social support groups or bulletin boards?
If so, I would be really grateful for your help!

My name is Michelle and I am studying for an MSc Health Psychology at Nottingham University. I am currently undertaking a research project into the experiences of caring for people with learning disabilities. This is an extremely important area of research as carers' needs are often unintentionally forgotten. However at present there is a lack of research within this area. I am looking for carers of people with learning disabilities who use online support groups or bulletin boards, who would be prepared to participate in my study by filling out a questionnaire. I understand how busy you all are and would be really grateful for any time you could spare. The questionnaire only takes about 15 minutes to complete and can be accessed online, through this link -

www.surveymonkey.com

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you have any questions please feel free to email me - LWXMP1@nottingham.ac.uk.

Kind Regards, Michelle Powell Smile emoticon

Thank you so much for that! Really appreciate it!
Kerry - Would love to hear how your diss on parent carers goes. I think it's really great that people are starting to take more of an interest in this important area. I would be more than happy to provide you with a summary of my results in September, if so you can contact me on the email address above.
Thanks once again Smile emoticon

No Problem Michelle,
So far, for my diss, I have only done the 2,000 word lit review.
Over the summer I plan on doing the bulk of the next 10,000 words! (kids allowing of course)
Have you read any of Gordon Grants work (journals)- he is very good, I think, writes about the joy of caring as well as everyday stuff.
I would greatly appreciate your summary- perhaps you could post it on here for other participants to view too????
Or put up a link so we can download it????

Good luck with it, and stay in touch. Smile emoticon

Hi Kerry - yep no problem I will definately put up a link to my summary. I have read abit of Grants' work...it is great to see that the positives of caring are also being studied.
Well it sounds like you have your work cut out this summer, so good luck with it all! Hope it all goes well for you Smile emoticon
