free cinema entrance and no waiting advice for disneyland

just to let everyone know if the person you care for gets dla you can apply for a CEA card this is a card that entitles the carer to go in the cinema for free its a one off payment of £5.50 for 3 yrs well worth it i have had one for mmyself to take my daughter for 3 yrs they are great also many special schools takr children on trips and it comes in helpfull then as well i also discovered on a trip to disneyland that if you go to customer relations in both universal and disney you get a fast pass this entitles you to go straight in the attraction NO QUEING for all of your party this is given for the full duration of the stay it is a god send as some waiting times can be 5 hours and we just coulndt do it especially if the child hasautism learning difficulties or behavioural problems this also applies for some parks in england alton towers and camalot also reduced rates at many attractions such as chesster zoo so always ask its worth it

Tue 19 Feb 2008 21:27Hi Nat, yeah those cards are great, we got ours about 18 months ago. probably saved a lot by now.
(the only thing is i was looking forward to using my uni nus card lol but cant)
whenever we go out with the boys anywhere that involves queing i always got to the management and explain we need to go in the exits or whatever.
one said can you prove theyre disabled (cos they loom normal) so i said i would leave em with him for ten minutes and then he could tell me what he thought!!!!
but sometimes you can show your blue badge or something.also you mostly get a large discount if you have disabled child, again u as a carer go free.

Tue 19 Feb 2008 21:36in america i took proof of disability as you cant see my daughters as no wheelchair ect...... and they told me that they are not allowed to look at anything as it is an infringment on privercy they take your word as they bloody well should who in there right mind would say there child was disabled !!!! my youngest daughter said something the other week as we parked in a disabled bay it was "why are all the disaabled sighns with a wheelchair not everyone has one so it needs changing " she is only 9 how right i would really verbally lay into some one who asked could i prove it you did good to think on the spot

Wed 20 Feb 2008 15:25I can fully recomment Chester Zoo. I went there last year with my son who is Autistic and my sister who is in a wheel chair. When we arrived the que went on for ever.
I asked one of the members of staff who were maning the ques if there was an alternative entrance as my son has no time concept and would find standing in the que difficult. I don't know if it was when they saw my son who is almost six foot tall which aided in the cooperation but do hope it is the same for everyone.
We got escorted through the entrance which is used for block bookings. We then got a huge discount due to my son and sister having a disability and my daughter and I got in at a carers discount. I can't remember the exact cost but it was around £25 entrance for all four of us which is a huge savings compared to the normal rate.

Wed 20 Feb 2008 17:52madam tussauds was ace but that was about 7 yrs ago- we were treated like royalty-seriously! me, my daughter who was about 12 at the time and my young boy who was about 3 in a wheelchair buggy (for safety) cost about£4 for all of us- that was cos my daughter is 'normal'. i was free and he was too.

made up for the train journey which cost £12 and was horrendous...
and can u beleive this... we had to go UPSTAIRS to get to the disabled exit and then DOWNSTAIRS to get out.
the disabled loo was miles away and locked so in the end my son who was just getting clean peed up the wall by the police station (and i dared anyone to say a word!)
then before we got to the diabled exit we had to navigate 2 huuuge flights of stairs (no lifts) with the buggy containing the son who weighed a ton.
and where do you think this was????
some remote part of africa, maybe the twilight zone... the planet zong?????
No it was Victoria bloody station in london!
I was so cross i wrote to ken livingstone upon my return and he sent me a lovely reply and that it was all being changed etc.
I dunno if it was. i wasnt brave enuf to go back!
