my mum, aged nearly 89 is very leaky. she already uses either padded pants or big throwaway pads inside her pants, but evry day she gets through more clothes than i can keep up with. the incontinence adviser gave us samples of pads, but we are already using the biggest. is there something like giant disposable nappies out htere and how do other people get on with them? She just seems to have 'gravity feed plumbing. When she stands up it just flows.

Really feel for you! My OH is the same and we also use a sheath and a leg bag, but I still end up with more washing than I know what to do with!

You can get adult size disposable nappies thru the incontinence adviser, we do, we are allowed 5 a day. Ours are called: Tyco Lille all in ones, Tena do them also. Good Luck.

you can also get chair squares protectors which are handy they save the furniture a lot. i used them because my hubby was doubly incontinent,so i know where your coming from,i also used to use the baby disposable changing mats to help protect the furniture. i think its wrong that there is a limit as to how many pads we are allowed to use on adults anyway,if you only changed a babies nappy 5times a day s.s would be knocking on your door to take the child away so whats the difference? i go on my soap box over this issue,+the lack of disabled toilets and how they need to be redesigned.hope this is of some use to you. Just a thought but did incontinence advisor show you how to fold the pads before placing them in mums pants? We didnt know this initially and so pads were overflowing, once shown how to put fold in middle it helped greatly. cheers Ann

i used to work in a nursing home so that i can confirm adult nappies are available Smile emoticon also a comment about disabled facilities----TERRIBLE!! my partner can barely weight bear, so transferring can be very hard work, especially when the bar is slightly wobbly and tiled floor slippery.
