For all confused carers of elderly people ....

I have just discovered another charity web-site which specialises in the care of th elderly. (I do hope PRTC don't mind me telling you all?)

Counsel and Care -

www.counselandcare.org.uk

They exist to support people over 60, be they carers or cared for. I'm not sure how this charity differs from Age Concern or Help the Aged, but they could be another iron in the fire, so to speak, for carers who find themselves at their wits end in trying to look after elderly relations whilst also trying to navigate 'the system'.

To quote them - 'In reality, today's social care system depends upon individuals arranging and brokering their own care services, rather than receiving traditional support from a social worker'.

They have published over 40 comprehensive fact-sheets covering subjects as diverse as abuse of the elderly, hospital discharge, community care, care home fees, choice of care homes, property maintenance, benefits, older people at work, etc, etc, etc..

They also say they can give a 'one-off payment' to those in need. And they have a help-line: -

0845 300 7585

Just thought I'd let you all know.
Love Smile emoticon

Thank you for the information. It sounds quite interesting. Being 66 and caring for an 85 year old, I can do with advice. Smile emoticon
