PRTC biased towards Scotland??

I just had a look at the PRTC annual report in here:
static.carers.org
In there is a list of donations made to carers centres and it looked to me at a glance that there seemed to be an unusually high percentage of donations to Scottish centres in relation to the population so I did a quick tally and found it to be about 23% of the total going to Scottish centres. Now in 2001 the population of Scotland was c.5 million and England c.60 million which should mean that if donations were made in relation to population they should get about 8%. Maybe I'm missing something but it doesnt seem right? Sad emoticon Blink emoticon Crying emoticon

The various carers centres are all independent organisations and some may have chosen not to apply for funds, Woodstock.

A lot depends on where the demands are and whether you can get funding from elsewhere. Also there is the issue of "restricted" funds: if a charity is given money for a set purpose, it can only be used for that purpose. So if a donor gives £200 to be used for young carers in Scotland, it can't be used in England.

As the PRTC was first set up Scotland, perhaps its donor base is greater there?

The report is pretty detailed, but obviously hasn't gone into that sort of detail, so I have no idea if the possibilities I've mentioned are accurate: it would be even longer than its current 45 pages and I for one wouldn't read it all Roll eyes emoticon !

Yes I noted that it is based in Scotland and that two of the major trustees are Scottish - Lord Mackay of Clashfern and Lord Vallance of Tummel. I did consider whether money might have been given specifically for use in Scotland but I also considered that the fundraising efforts may be over focussed on Scotland for a national charity do you think?? It wouldnt make sense since Scotland only have 8.1 percent of the UK GDP [Gross Domestic Product] - that being the case I would have thought that fundraising would be better directed at England?? Anyway, until I stumbled across the Scottish fundraising dinner which prompted me to look at the accounts I didnt realise PRTC was primarily a Scottish charity!

well i am a scot, not saying im more needy or deserving at all but would be nice to get some sort of help!
as far as i am concerned it doesnt matter where the money goes...England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales.....the people that need the help dont actually get anything out of it
