Cancer Project at CHANGE

Hello,

We work for a voluntary sector organisation called CHANGE, that works with people with learning disabilities to campaign for their equal rights. We are based in Leeds but work nationally.

At CHANGE we have staff and volunteers with learning disabilities, who work with illustrators to produce easy read information with supporting illustrations. We have over a decade of experience of producing accessible information.

We have just been commissioned by the Department of Health to research and produce a series of accessible cancer booklets for people with learning disabilities and their carers.

At the moment we are setting up focus groups to inform the development of the booklets. These groups will be in Leeds, Bristol and London.

We are looking for:

•People with learning disabilities who have been affected by cancer.
•Carers of people with learning disabilities who may have some experience of caring for someone with learning disabilities who has had cancer.

We really need your experience and expertise to help make the booklets, which will go on to support others in the future.

If you would like to get involved, or think you could signpost us to someone that would like to help us, please contact:

The Cancer Project team at CHANGE on: 0113 3880011

Or email: fiona@change-people.co.uk

We look forward to hearing from you.
