Phone interviews and "research"

Dear jounalism students (there have been a few of you showing up here recently) and other researchers,
IMHO it's high time that you adjusted to the modern world and did at least some of your interviews by email.
While phone calls and face to face interviews have spontaneity, they exclude people with hearing impairments, as well as anyone with very limited energy (a phone call at someone els's convenience can be exhausting at the best of times) or almost no free time (or awake at unconventional hours).
If the need to interview face to face or on the phone is driven by your tutors or your employers, kindly pass on my message to them.
Thank you.

in defence of all the journalism students out there, how do you know that they don't conduct some of their interviews by email ?

Sat 15 Nov 2008 20:49after reading your post a few times, i think i owe you an apology ! Sorry if i sounded off hand. But if these 'journalists' are true then they have to start somewhere dont they? But i dont think it is wise to do 'phone interviews' because you dont know who you are speaking too really. Sorry for any confusion and sounding sarcastic.
