The BBC has it that the promised £100 payment that would have included many disabled and their Carers, will NOT be paid.
Our electric just went up £5 per week from £15 to £20 per week.
Great

Re: No Fuel Allowance - Brown
Fri 5 Sep 2008 10:42This is the Mr Brown with a handicapped child. Wonder how he would feel sitting in a cold house wrapped in a blanket unable to keep himself or child warm, let alone fed. They of course hope that we will all freeze to death and then they wouldnt have this hassle or have to pay the pittance of a care allowance, or in my case half the CA which disappears when they have to pay another pittance of IS because of 24/7 caring. It would after all be cheaper to bury us all wouldnt it.

Fri 5 Sep 2008 12:54Thankfully saying stuff like this whilst in Glasgow (even if it was with his CBI chums) is akin to going into that bunker with a revolver...
...it has the same effect

Re: No Fuel Allowance - Brown
Sat 6 Sep 2008 17:10The whole fuel increase really f**ks me off!! I have a 12 year old profoundly disabled daughter who has no mobility whatsoever, therefore cannot regulate her body temperature. I have been paying £65 per month on electric, and £49 on Gas. This morning in the post, alas, my gas is going up to £74 per month. I am waiting now for the 9% increase in my electric.......... Blankets and hot water bottles anyone??

Sat 6 Sep 2008 22:42Ww got the same problems - were kicking £150 a month!
The heating needs to be on all the time as fluctuations in temp cause more seizures - we are really struggling to pay at the minute and are dreading the wintertime!
I hope it's relatively mild as we would afford a big freeze.

Re: No Fuel Allowance - Brown
Sun 7 Sep 2008 15:23unfortunately it is cold here at the moment, whilst I put on socks and wrap myself in a blanket my caree has not got the sense to understand and is insiting on sitting in t shirt and thin trousers, constantly soaking herself as she also has OCD so she smells musty and is dripping wet and never dries in the cold. It is a wonder she hasnt got pneumonia, if she does she will die , because we cannot afford to put on the heating and the small gas fire gives no heat out so is false economy and I dont bother lighting it. Maybe when the funeral costs start mounting up for all our paupers funerals they may think again. That is if they think at all- thats doubtful too. Well will have to go numb fingers too

Re: No Fuel Allowance - Brown
Sun 7 Sep 2008 18:22Well if you ARE unfortunate enough to suffer a bereavement, they have this covered too, referring to the recent Green Paper on Welfare Reform "No one written off"
www.dwp.gov.ukat Para 6.30
"6.30 This could mean, for example, ensuring the benefits provide more support upfront through lump-sum payments to those in need but do not unduly undermine a person’s motivation to move into work or begin a relationship with a new partner, where appropriate, in the longer-term.
Question 24: How might we reform Bereavement Benefit and IIDB to provide better support to help people adjust to their new circumstances while maintaining the work focus of the modern welfare state?"So are they saying in effect "shut up moaning just because your partner has died, get a job and a new mate and look sharpish about it" eh?
Who would have thought it of a Labour government in the 21st century?

Re: No Fuel Allowance - Brown
Mon 8 Sep 2008 13:37Well I had to move on because my husband of 30 years f---- off with a younger slapper because I was caring for close relatives too. Sadly ahhh he may soon need to be looked after and guess who cleared off and left him. Well it wont be me doing it thats for sure, let the state do it. Nice to know we wont be put in a mass grave though hey at least they have that covered, well for now, until it gets too much for their finances which of course it will and then things will change. Maybe we can put the bodies in recycle bins and get new free carers.IRONIC isnt it?
