False holiday offers from carers centre

hello all
I hope not offend anyone but what I have to say probably will
And every word below is what happened
are they trying to find information about us to pass on to ?

whats going on with carers holiday grants ?
our child who is 17
around 10 years ago we were told to go to CARERS
for help and advice so we did
and were told by staff member we do not deal with children
i was dismissed like a school boy BELIVE ME THAT’S WHAT IT FELT LIKE !
Then last year we were told to apply for a holiday grant
Personally I would not of
But we did in the end we were told we could have a break in BLACKPOOL
And yet again turned away they asked who told us about the break it was our social worker
There and then she phoned up s/s and told them to pass on to ALL social workers not to refer any one to them !
which we found very alarming
Well 2 months or more ago we received a letter from school asking us to go down to out local CARERS to apply for a break again !
I never went !!!!
but my wife did
As my wife tells me as they were filling out the forms the person in the centre stopped filling in the form and said that’s all is needed but my WIFE found it all a little suspicious
And now I`m a little suspicious as yet again 2 months went by with not a word from them so she phoned up to ask of any news ONCE AGAIN WE WERE TERNED DOWN I WANT TO KNOW WHY ?
Also when she pulled out our records
SHE SPOKE ABOUT A GRANT WE HAVE NOT APPLIED FOR !!!!!!!!
When we asked why was this she quickly asked could she phone us back she did in 15 min, later
I find it alarming that someone could be cliaming grants on our behalf
Hence why we have NEVER RECIVED ANYTHING FROM THEM!
( SO WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO IS HOW EASY IT IS TO APPLY FOR A GRANT THEN
TO GIVE IT TO A FRIEND /FAMILY
I WON`T KNOW AND YOU WON`T
SAD TO SAY WE ALL SEE IT ON T.V.AND IN PAPERS PEOPLE CLAIMING MONEYS WHO ARE NOT ENTITLED TO IT
IT STILL GOES ON TODAY AND WILL ALWAYS GO ON !

Many thanks conner

You cant trust anyone nowadays eh Conner Angry emoticon "they" make out they have the funds and slap you in the face with a kipper if you try to get any of it Angry emoticon people claiming what they shouldn't goes right across the board and people like us get sweet F A Cursing emoticon have you tried claiming a holiday grant from FamilyFund? they gave us £450 this year towards ours Yes emoticon check them out on www.familyfund.org.uk or ask you social worker about holiday grants from resources and support from your local council, holiday grants are paid every three years but specific carers grant are paid every year if you need something to help your job as a carer, last year my sister got money for a corner bath as she needed more space for our sister as a regular bath is too narrow, check it out Yes emoticon good luck Smile emoticon

Hi
The holiday grant etc criteria has changed not all who used to get it are now edible its stricter and they say this is progress where?
Its disgusting we carers deserve a break no matter if we might have a bit more money or the person we care for might not be so ill as the next person its still exhausting
I wonder what would happen if carers went on strike dread the thought ? but it makes you sick when they wont to save money they take it away from carers first coffee Angry emoticon

Now dont be silly everyone, if they gave holidays to carers then they would be admitting we exist and we dont do we? well thats how it feels to me. If they wait long enough we die and they can write us off and the next lot come along and start enquiring. I believe that they will never give us anything. The public gave to "this morning" a while ago, has anyone here received any help from the donations, I doubt it. The money went where all this charity money goes to those that collect it. Why arent we carers on here shown all the receipts of where an when the money was collected and where it has gone. I see people desperate for washing machines, no help there but hey we have hands use them they will tell us.
I would never give to charity if I had the fortune to be able to, unless I could follow through where it went. Maybe the public should all be made aware of this. Oh yes people are getting trained to talk to us and listen to us. Whoopee big joke that one.

Hello Connor

Is it your 17 year old who you are caring for? If yes I am not 100% sure if the family fund have started to allow families who have a child up to the age of 18 be able to apply for items which would help you in your caring role along with holiday breaks too.

As for the carers centre it would alarm me if I found out someone had been claiming in my name and I would be asking for an investigation. (I am a trustee for our local carers centre and if I found out this to happen at our centre I would want a full investigation)

Saying all that I am aware not all carers centres now have the funding for holidays or short breaks. When funding is allocated to a centre it usually comes along with all sorts of criterias and one of them being it could be only for families who care for a child or for a family who care for an adult or both.

I am also aware that those who use to access the Northern Rock funding are now facing more difficulties regarding funding as they are now not in a position to fund the way they use to. Along with other funders they do not have the funds to allocate the way they use to due to less money being out there. Along with big funders such as Northern Rock not funding more organisations/individuals are applying else where who in most cases already have their regular charity organisations who they fund to.

Saying all of that; how about asking your social worker if you are able to have direct payments to pay for a holiday or an Individual budget which would allow you to go on holiday as it would be a break from your caring role along with a break for the person you are caring for.

Hope you manage to get a break soon.

I am fortunate that I get respite for my son but I never have the money to get away so end up catching up on the odd jobs around the house or running around after my other two children; who just happen to be 19 and 21 now.
