We are also on our 2nd attempt must be mad to go back and try again, we applied 1st about 9yrs ago and things haven't changed much, they don't seem to have learned much about how to use the money wisely or how to deal with people, our 2nd attempt has taken nearly 3yrs I think you could get blood from a stone quicker, how do you find the Services OTs etc? Hi Carmen-Miranda.

We have been fighting for 4 years now for the DFG to extended our house and get a downstairs bathroom and hoists and a ramp and widen inner doors for the wheelchair!! It will make Kieran's life sooo much better and ours.

Success at last it has all been passed by the panell and our approval letters arrived last friday and the builders are starting

TOMMORROW!!!!!!!
but i will not hold my breathe until i see the digger and builders in my back garden i will not believe it!! lol

It has been a nightnmare i i dont want to have to go though it all again so i am definetly staying put here and never moving once its completed.

I hope you are successful with yours and it will not be too much longer, i did tell my socail worker i would have to put Kieran into care if they didnt hurry up as he is 15 now and i am still carrying him upstairs for baths!!

Good Luck and hopefully talk to you in the chat room sometime.

we wanted a small porch and side gates as we live right on the a5.
we have been led the merriest dance possible, being told eventually by our case worker that yes the porch and gates had been approved at last (this was after nearly 2 yrs) and that would be started in 8 weeks finished in 11....

that was 2 yrs ago.

since then ive been visited by the head of OT who really does have her head up her arse, who told me that nothing had even been approved and she doesnt know where i got that idea (erm... probably from the ot case worker who rang me to tell me!)
and no way could we have a porch...
if we want we can have blocks of wood attached to windows to stop them escaping (but of course if there is a fire, tough s**t on the girls whos bedrooms ar ethere cos theyll be trapped)
and we can have a key pad.... (that will last about 5 minutes til siddie smashes it)

that was agreed... hmmmm let me think... about 18 months ago....

we are still waiting...

watch this space guys.
