Re: Freelance carers
Wed 26 Dec 2007 21:19I would suggest that your first port of call is a carers centre. You do not say if you are trained and already have had a criminal record check both being required. Contacting social services is also a good idea. I wish you well in your chosen profession but please remember that most carers on this site are unpaid and suffer the stresses that all carers have. Good professional carers are few and far between and if you fall into that catorgory you will be in much need. Good luck.

Mon 31 Dec 2007 11:42Have a look at PAPool's website. It is quite new, so has not yet built up much of an 'audience', but you might be lucky.
Also consider the websites for the disabled which take advertising.

Mon 31 Dec 2007 19:37I think your area of service would be best advertised in 'The Lady'. A publication for the genteel classes. Private carers with the correct references would always expect to be placed in their pages..... Your search engine will prove my point !

Re: Freelance carers
Tue 1 Jan 2008 17:21You will definitely need to contact social services as they actually offer services for people where a volunteer can attend to someone's needs - I think thats the right channel to go anyway - I think families who cant afford a carer always get referred to social services. Sorry its hard to explain - I wish you all the best, (perhaps use a search engine looking for positions available as a carer?)
