Dear All

My Father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease 2 years ago. His condition has since rapidly deteriorated to the point where he no longer recognises my Mum, his children or grandchildren. A whole lifetime of memories has been simply wiped out and it has completely devastated the whole family. He used to be an active and independent man, but now he is totally dependant on others to do everything for him. In the beginning I just used to feel so helpless and just cry, it's only recently that I'm coming to terms with it. I miss the Father I used to know and will do anything I can to help him and thousands of other sufferers like him.
I would also like to hear from anyone who's family or friend has also been affected by AD or Dementia and to hear of your experiences. Please help this campaign for drug treatment to help thousands of people with Alzheimer's Disease / Dementia which affects over 700,000 people in the UK alone.
The more people who campaign for dementia drugs, the more the NHS and the government will sit up and take notice. The cost is only £2.50 a day for these drugs, which are both clinically and cost effective. Please click on this link (or copy and paste onto browser):
www.alzheimers.org.uk/alzheimersdrugs/index.htmThis will take you straight onto the Action on Alzheimers Drugs page.
About two thirds down the page you can contact your MP by email, can campaign online, or send a template letter (I don't want to forget), just by clicking on the relevant links. It's very easy to do and will only take a few moments.I've also come across this link on the 10 Downing Street webite, to sign an E-petition to also campaign against NICE's decision on Dementia Drugs. Please click on this link (or copy and paste onto browser):
petitions.pm.gov.ukSo far over 2,335 people have signed the E-petition and the deadline is 10th January 2008. Would you please help and sign it?
Please help spread this message. Together we can all make a difference.
Thank you for viewing this post.
