Happy!

My son is 18 and 6 foot tall. He has always rocked, but recently his rocking has become so big it is only a matter of time before he hurts someone. And I dread to think what would happen.
He steps back, then leans right back, steps forward. As he does this he knees himself in the face and slaps himself on the neck. Accompanied with a high pitched scream! This covers about 2 meters of space, and no he dosnt look behind.
This is him being happy! You don’t want to know what he does when hes not!
So because it is a happy thing I don’t know how to calm it down? Any suggestions?
He does not speak and his understanding is very limited. But I am very concerned he is going to hurt someone.

Sounds familiar! My son often 'touches' himself in public and we try to give him two small carrier bags (not too heavy) to hold. He has a bit of a moan but it makes him concentrate on holding onto them (sometimes) Other times he drops them! Holding onto something would mean he couldn't balance as well as having his hands free. We also resort to letting him have a can or plastic bottle of coke in the street as it stops all the flapping about and drawing attention to himself. I wonder why they behave lilke this when they are happy! Wish we could bottle it sometimes!
