Feeling so let down....

My son Who has Downs syndrome has been in education up until now, he has just finished a college course " ASDAN towards independance" .
I have had no complaints about his education, we have been very lucky and managed to get him part time intergration into mainstream schooling throughout and when he left school he then went to college to do the affor mentioned course.
BUT .........
Now he has left college and where do we go from here..... NOWHERE is where!!
he has just had a " assessment of needs " by social services, big deal!
They spent 2 hours at my home only to tell me there is nothing for him at the moment, they have pulled funding from most of the schemes that were in place but nothing has been organised to replace them, he then went on to say that they are trying to organise a drop in center... whooope doo dah!
Well in essence , he has spent the last 17 yrs in education, someone funded a 3 yr college course for him to learn skills he is rapidly losing being stuck at home!
And me .... well looks like im as disabled as my son, maybe i should apply for DLA, after all i cant work either ?

That's how it goes, all the resources go to helping children, which is great, but then nothing!
Out in the "real world" there is very little, but hot air.
