I wonder if anyone could advice mo on a couple of things.my son got diagonosed with autism last year and i recieved the middle care element and i have just been awarded for another 2 years.my son is 8 and he has a full time classsroom assistant.i honestly thought that he would or recieved the low rate mobility element.I explained in my forms that he has a thing for things that are shiny and is always picking things up off the floor and his road sense is zero.Just wandering if anyone has had the same thing happen. Also i was wondering if there are any other charities that help other than the family fund as i have only just applied and i think im in for a long wait

write back the them and ask why he has not been awarded the low rate mobility as you have stated in your application that he has no road sense.

Any funder who you apply to you will probably have a long wait for a reply. Some funders only meet once or twice a year. Local funders vary from area to area. You could check out your local radio station and local papers. Here in the North East we have Just for kids through Metro Radio who tend to fund mostly group activites and The Evening Chroicle has the Sun Shine fund for individual applications.

Which area do you live in?

Hi bex31

take it up with your citizens advice or local carers centre. Angry emoticon
When I applied for mobility they knocked me back and said that there was no difference to my autistic daughter than a normal child.
I took it to the citizens and I now get mobility for her.
The only down side is that I have to reapply every 3 yrs but if you photo copy every page when you fill the form in it makes it easier for the next time because its easy to forget about something that may stop you from getting it again.

Good Luck
