respite care

How do i get respite for my 8 year old son?
I know of others who get 4 - 6 hours a month but just dont how too get it? Can anyone help?

You need to get an assessment from Social Services asap and maybe contact your local Contact a Family Charity too. Hope this helps.

I agree with what southwark6002 wrote about Social Services.
Also there is in our local area The Learning Disabilities Federation (LDF) who also offer short respite like 4 hours every second week which is great as it helps with them going out shopping/swiming.
you just pay the cost of your child going out with the respite carer.
Check your local area online.
I think it may be national but I will find out.

The Learning Disabilities Federation (LDF) is not national and is only in our local area of North Tyneside. Sad emoticon Smile emoticon

You could still check it out as they have a web site and they maybe able to point you in the right direction.
